Susan Brewer is a legendary figure in Texas high school volleyball, having served as the head coach of the Bellville Brahmanettes since founding the program in 1977. Over her illustrious career, Brewer has amassed over 1,200 victories, placing her among the top high school volleyball coaches in the nation. Under her leadership, Bellville has secured nine state championships, made 17 state tournament appearances, and achieved 40 playoff berths in 45 seasons. Her teams have also claimed more than 30 district titles, including an impressive run of six state titles in the 1990s.
Brewer’s coaching excellence has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the 2011 AVCA National High School Coach of the Year award and induction into the AVCA Hall of Fame in 2022. Beyond volleyball, she has contributed to Bellville High School as the women’s coordinator, head tennis coach, and former basketball and cheer coach. Brewer is also deeply involved in community development, having established summer camps and strength programs for young athletes. Her enduring philosophy, “The best is yet to come,” continues to inspire her players and the broader Bellville community.
